The Bartholomew School for Advanced Studies is a school for gifted students. Aptitude tests are required for entry, even at the elementary school level. But the kids who graduate from this school almost inveribly go on to an ivy league education. Tuition is very expensive, and most kids are the children of corporate executives. Most students stay in the dorms, freeing their parents from the labors of having to spend time with their children. The school looks like a fortress with a double layer fence and armed guards. The reason for this is that the neigborhood has gone considerably down hill since the school was founded. What was once an upper-middle class area, is now destitute and controlled by street gangs. No one goes in or out with out the knowledge of the staff.
